What a gift: Your memory. And how that, plus your love for those you love, lights up a room. Great story. Lucky teens.

Reading this as we're about to sit down as a family to watch Pitch Perfect. Now that you've reminded me of it, The Full Monty will be next Sunday's movie, "from the vaults of old people's times" 😄. Thank you for sharing this family snapshot and this memory!

Laughter, especially when shared with those you care about, truly IS the best medicine.

I have super vivid memories of attending game 3 of the World Series at Yankee stadium in 2001. Those feelings of trying to cheer for sports in a city still reeling from the attacks 2 months earlier made for an absolutely surreal night, but it was a much needed balm for the soul.

What a gift to enjoy a family night together with your kids. 🙂

This is terrific. I loved The Full Monty movie (never saw the play) and I can fully imagine how rich and fun it was to watch it all together. That is how moments are made -- and laughing cements those moments in our memories forever. Good on you for making it happen. And yes, snacks help. A lot.

Thank you, Liz! 💗 (And I’m totally sticking The Full Monty movie in my back pocket for the next time time we embark on the Pick-A-Movie-for-the-Family Follies!)

Seeing the kids united with you in one movie is heaven!

My kids enjoyed three idiots with me, an indian comedy.

My teens abandoned me on Halloween, as to be expected, and so I decided to watch a new Halloween movie. 'Totally Killer' with Kiernan Shipka was a gd delight. A time travel (2023 to 1987) irreverent horror comedy that made me night. I've been telling everyone about it sense. Just really fun, clever, and a bit old school. Also, Robert Baratheon! Who knew???

omg thank you for Welcome to the Internet! While we didn’t make it to the theater after 9/11 I so vividly remember that “is it okay to laugh” feeling in my chest. Thankfully we decided it was and started watching a Lot of Comedy Central. Thank you for that post, also helpful to know my Gen Z my be separated from devices from time to time :)

The combination of emotions this evoked surprised me, in a good way.

I loved the reminder of the support and determination of those nearest the people of NYC made to support their city as one of the first 'new normal' was being built.

Thank you!
