YES. Thanks. Forward.

Justice, joy, yes, yes!

Aspirations for our world.

North Star for our work.

Together we rise,

like the swells, the sun, the dough.

And we are ready.

What a tremendous showing by the Dems! It's even more impressive when you think of the absolute scramble that took place once Pres Biden decided not to run. The DNC had to completely rework its program (and speakers had to rework their speeches) to ensure that night #1, typically sort of a sleepy stepping stone to build to the nomination, hit hard and orchestrated great respect for the president. Personally, I cried. A lot. Watching HRC and realizing what could have been, what we've lost, and what a remarkable person she is. Listening to Sen Warnock (GA represent!) and seeing how he has grown into a statesman with echoes of Dr. King. AOC is now part of the core of the Dems. It's a whole new party, all of sudden!

Yes yes yes to every word. AOC is becoming a sharp and thoughtful leader. Tears for HRC. I saw someone mention that while there was a lot of faith/religion talk, it felt moving and inclusive, not used like a weapon to exclude and alienate. DEMS IN ARRAY!

Listening to Hillary, I was thinking how much better off our country, and the world would have been, if she didn't have it stolen by the manipulation of the EC. Just for example Covid - she would have immediately brought out the protocols, and medical team on standby, and the pandemic might have been limited to a containable epidemic. Instead, we know how it was mishandled from day 1, killing millions needlessly, without our leadership in fighting it.

I sobbed happy tears when Harris was sworn in as Veep. I cannot wait to be able to sob again when she is sworn in as President.

Thank you so much for these links. I had to miss the first night speeches but was able to watch President Biden's live. I understand why you would rather be at home than at Chicago's United Center! I love Chicago but the distractions can be overwhelming...I would rather be sitting in my chair relaxing with my husband and focusing on every speech. So far I have watched, Hilary, AOC, Jamie Raskin, this morning with my coffee. Looking forward to this week!

It would be nice to some day hear you actually dialogue with someone who has different view points especially around the issue of abortion. Just saying something is true without giving the the data to back it up is worthless.

Is there something specific here that I've said that you feel is worthless, Paul? Is there a question you would like to ask or are you waiting for someone else to ask it?

Everything listed in the talking points at this link (https://www.threads.net/@mom101/post/C-xtP0ZM2WO) gives me no data/reasoning to back up the conclusion in order to talk to someone that has a differing perspective on the situation. The question I have is what is the data/reasoning to back up the conclusions that were made? Because for me to say Liz Gumbinner said it does not cut it with everyday people in which I try to have a dialogue with about these conclusions. Maybe point me to where in the past the data/reasoning behind the conclusions were given then it would be more beneficial for my conversations. Especially around the issue of abortion which is always a hot topic because I am more interested in dialogue with others. One of the conclusions that was stated is "She has been consistently and unapologetically at the forefront of protecting women's lives, health and bodily autonomy, especially in the wake of Dobbs."

Someone asked me a question: What is it about her that I support? I answered. I don't expect that "Liz says so" is a good enough reason for anyone -- and I also imagine that you're capable of researching those policies yourself if you'd like more info. Think of my thread as an opportunity to jump start your own learning. If you'd like to learn more about why support for abortion is important, and how it impacts individuals' health, American families, and the economy overall, start with Jessica Valenti's Abortion, Every Day Substack https://jessica.substack.com/

Thanks for your input. I did look at Jessica's substack and she does give some data and reasoning that I will investigate on different topics concerning abortion. My original question still is how to to create dialogue with others with differing perspectives? I want to have civil conversations with others not to devalue another human being. That is why I was looking for someone that knows how to do just that and why I originally asked for an example of someone that has had an actual dialogue with someone who has different view points. It is quite easy to find sites/places that are focused on getting information out to destroy others but very hard to find ones that want to create civil dialogue with others as their main goal. If there is no example of this type of dialogue that you know of I will look elsewhere. Thanks again.

Sorry if I'm not entirely understanding your questions Paul -- but I think most politically active people have had many, many civil conversations with people who don't agree with us. I do my best to do it here, in person, in Facebook communities with friends, and on my social channels. If you're looking for a specific forum where you can debate an issue, it comes down to finding a place where the author or community moderator creates a civil atmosphere. However, if you're looking to be able to argue (civilly?) *against* healthcare procedures like abortion with women -- and again, forgive me if that's not what you're asking -- I really can't tell you where to go for that. For more on talking to people with different views, read Adam Grant.

This is great statement - "I think most politically active people have had many, many civil conversations with people who don't agree with us." Could you please point me where I can actually hear you dialogue or have a conversation with someone who has different view points especially around the issue of abortion?

I personally prefer to have civil conversations/dialogues and debate has negative connotations to me. Therefore I am not looking for a forum to debate. I am looking for examples of someone that is good at creating civil conversations with people.

Thanks for the suggestion to find a community moderator that has the goal to create a civil atmosphere. I have looked up Adam Grant and his website has this statement - "The most meaningful way to succeed is to help others succeed." which I do think is a good one to explore more. It seems that it comes from his book "Give and Take" in which he seems to promote givers in his statement - "givers are the rare breed of people who contribute to others without expecting anything in return"

Thanks for your thought. Have you ever had a dialogue with anyone about your thought? In what I have run across most people on both sides of the abortion issue would agree with that statement. The only exception was someone one that was trying to help a love one that was in the process of taking their own life.

I agree with wishing I was there, back in my hometown, to welcome in the new generation, this time led by women. I have been working towards this since the 1967 convention, which took pace, across the street from my university.

Now, I have to watch it from a hospital bed, sharing comments by text, with my sister and daughter, regarding the speeches, and cheering on Hillary and Kamala, and all the other women speakers.

Truly the torch has been passed, and with our first woman president - something I thought I would never see in my lifetime - my daughter's generation will proudly lead us into the future..
