My best friend and I have kept in touch with our former US History professor. Even before the election, she was saying that this was as important a moment for America as the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the succession of the southern states. As we all reeled from the election, I had the thought that these events led to war. But out of war came a stronger and better union. I don't know what form this war will take, but my hope is that we will again come out stronger and closer to the ideals of this nation. LFG
Just to share, in the world of ironies: This past week was a celebration, in Berlin, of the "fall" (metaphorical -- didn't actually come down) of the Belin Wall. . . . I'm guessing in some macabre synergy of human events: while Berlin celebrates the anniversary of the tearing down of the horrible wall which kept people in a world of fascism, the fascist torch has been passed to the former Beacon of Freedom. Children -- who are citizens -- may be again separated from their undocumented parents. People who left oppressive regimes and are contributing to our society, will be forced to return. An aura of suspicion will surround and diminish anyone who seems (much less "is") not a complete and total following of das Fuhrer 2.0. . . . Sure. Maybe I'm wrong. Sure. It can't happen here. Except that the Germans who supported the 3rd Reich then did so because of similar economic problems (need for an enemy, out of control inflation, a perception that it's "us" or them," etc. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Good advice, Liz! Tough times. That said, lots of countermeasures are in play and growing... still, like the first reign of the orange blob, everyday will be full of OMG.

Amen 🙏
I am all for positive thinking instead of hand-wringing. One note, though: Wasn't it the Japanese rather than the Germans who bombed Pearl Harbor?
That video link at the bottom? Enjoy it, John!
As an Animal House fan, I got it right away. 😄
Mea culpa. I've watched it many times, but I skipped over the link.
😊
Doh! I missed it on first read. My bad for being too fact-oriented.

I hope you'll read the post I linked to here about the "fall" of The Berlin Wall, from Timothy Snyder.
Thank you for this, Liz. LFG indeed.

Every hour, I'm sure. Rest up!

What is there to do
if Lady Liberty cries?
Breathe, reach out, hold tight.
What is there to do
if Lady Justice gets hacked?
Breathe, reach out, join hands.
What is there to do
if Old Glory gets kidnapped?
Breathe, reach out, make plans.
What is there to do
if the Christ’s Cross gets hijacked?
Breathe, reach out, claim back.
What is there to do
if Mother Earth gets attacked?
Breathe, reach out, plant, act!
