I think this is funny because I’ve never watched the Bachelor /Bachelorette but I did watch Golden Bachelor because I wanted to see how women in their 70s (and I’m 71) presented themselves. It wasn’t as bad as it could have been I guess but it was predictable. I just wish the women could be more real - and by that I mean not all glammed up trying to look 20 years younger.
The guy did seem sincere FWIW. But it’s so contrived , and the decision process is so rushed and artificial, can anyone be surprised it didn’t last?
So I didn’t even own a TV for MANY years and I’ve missed a lot of pop culture / bad shows. I don’t like how voyeuristic reality TV makes us but I admit getting sucked into it 🤷🏼♀️. Better than watching/ reading about the evil orange guy but only marginally.
I have never watched anything beyond The Real World, first 2-3 seasons, and the first season of that OC show with Brody Jenner, which was so fake it broke my interest. No soaps. No Survivor. None of it. The whole idea makes me feel ill, I just can’t.
You make so many great points here. I'm a self-proclaimed reality TV junkie and omg the Real World and all those dating shows you names were my jam. I use my brain so much during the day, I like to be able to turn it off sometimes (still enjoy a great scripted show or movie though) so I think that's the appeal for me but you're very much right that, especially now, they put forward so many negative tropes and stereotypes, especially about women. I forget that sometimes. I don't know if you ever watched "Tough Love" on VH1 but I definitely applied to be on that and they actually called me but I couldnt pick up since I was at work. Called them back, left a message and never heard from them again. Definitely think that was for the best 😂
