Just a lil reminder that I will always delete comments that are hateful, derogatory, and include slurs or ad hominem attacks. That's one of the things that makes this space Not Twitter.
Thank you, Liz. I needed to hear this today. I've been trying to keep in mind that democracy will not collapse overnight. There is resistance machinery built in 2017 that is still there. We don't have to create it from scratch. This isn't 2017. We won't go back.
Thank you, dear Liz. For the next seven days, yours are the only dispatches around this anathema before us that I'll be consuming. I have the great privilege of being on a beautiful island and with the ability to disconnect (largely if not entirely), and am taking advantage of it this week. After that, perhaps I will wade back into the fray, but my nerves/spirit/mind can't handle the onslaught right now. As you and so many others have encouraged us to do, I'm taking care of me, prioritizing my mental and physical health (like you, recovering from an injury), and doing tangible, small things with my hands in my home to make life a little better while my energy larder restores itself. I hope all of us are doing what we must to be tender with ourselves. I am rewatching The Office (US) for the first time since it went off the air. I'm knitting for an organization in LA that delivers hats and scarves to cancer patients on Valentine's Day and who lost hundreds of handmade donations in the fires. Each stitch is resistance to doom. Do what you need to do. Inhale joy, exhale peace, hold space, and share grace as often and broadly as you can. Lavish love. Check on your people. Do not be afraid. #nolitimere
Thank you for your thoughts...I too am trying not to watch new 24/7 so we are together on that and many other things as well. Yesterday was more tolerable to my psyche listening to it in review statements. Watching him "live" was too sickening for me. I have a houseful of family and one of them is nine years old so we have to curtail our comments somewhat which is a good thing. I am always more hopeful than not which is also a good thing. xo
I chuckled at your sleep log; the last several nights I've awakened from dreams where I'm dealing with it (last night, I was arguing with my Republican grandfather - (who passed away in 2001) about his vote for the felon (my grandfather would have hated him, but he never got Fox brainwashed). I hope you do host a chat - I would very much enjoy that.
Thanks! I’ve detected a lot of surrender and sense of doom in comments to my posts and notes, and I’ve said that giving in to this monstrosity is to give up on ourselves. If people think the next four years will be bad, how bad will they be if we allow this movement to take root? This has to stop-here. Write, speak, volunteer, run-anything that gives you a sense of empowerment has the virtue of empowering the rest of us.
There is about to be. And he just withdrew from the world health organization, while appointing science deniers and anti-vax extremists. I don’t find it particularly poetic.
Waking up to 10degree weather and 5” of snow, sitting in front of a beautiful fire, and drinking my coffee reminds me how entitled I am. Entitled to turn it off ( whatever IT is); entitled to know that no one in my immediate family will be sent to another country or refused admission to the bathroom of their choice, entitled to know that no one in my family has to prove loyalty in order to keep their jobs. So that makes it even more important that I try to follow your suggestions. I will stay healthy and try to help those who don’t have as many choices as I do. I will follow the voices of reason and march with the passionate ones. I will support the arts. I will “Stay Gold” (HT. The Outsiders)

Love how you put that, thank you.
Reading this post was like getting a healthy dose of vitamins. Thank you!
Thank you, John. We are gonna all have to keep each other healthy, I guess.
Yes, yes and yes!!!

I appreciate that hopefulness! Send it out into the world, clearly we all can’t get enough.

Thank you! I will change the link in the post -- much appreciated, Tricia.
Always happy to be the gift link fairy when I can!

Well, then, I will have to work around your schedule!
Thanks Liz. Your words, as they are so often, are powerful and timely. Actions & hope. ❤️

Well said Liz. I’m delivering the same message to my fellow Substackers.

Go Mark, go!
Excellent!
Thank you Diane 💙
Wouldn't it be poetic irony if another pandemic emerged.
