Hi! Please also consider SBP (St. Bernard Project), sbpusa.org. We provide long-term disaster recovery services, such as rebuilding and FEMA appeals assistance. We are mobilizing in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.
I would also strongly recommend looking for local organizations to support, as they are boots-on-the-ground-right-now helping people. Your moeny and donations are likely to go to people a little quicker. I live in Florida, and our area was definitely spared, but areas from Anna Maria Island southward have been almost decimated. And it appears to be likely that we are getting a one-two punch starting tomorrow: a low pressure system dumping rain over the state from about tomorrow to Tuesday, and looking like a tropical storm to possibly small hurricane later in the week. Please also remember our animal friends, and help them too. There are so many people helping people, and our animal friends need to eat too. I am devastated by what has happened here and in NC, and because of this week's projected weather, I can't even get over to Anna Maria Island to help with cleanup and recovery.
Thank you Tracy, all important points! I've included mainly local orgs above (the others already have boots on the ground) as well as several animal support groups. If there are others you recommend, feel free to share them.
Keeping my eye on the weather report and hoping for the best for those already struggling to dig out from Helene. Thanks for all you are doing to help.
Thank you for posting this, Liz. I have a nephew who lives east of Asheville and a good friend who lives west of Asheville. Both have been greatly impacted by this storm. These organizations that you have listed are so helpful ❤️

Welp....looks like we are getting another hurricane on Wednesday now. Somebody say something funny or I might cry.
Rep. Jeff Jackson is encouraging donations to NC gov/donate which is facilitated by the local United Way.
Thank you, Charlotte
