I feel compelled to bear witness. But I also must take care of myself. Especially if you have people who need you. Even a relative in Israel is keeping up her and her village's spirits. Strong friend groups (esp women friends) can be so healing. Take care of yourself and your family.💕
I remember meeting friends for drinks when the smoke was still acrid and strong after 9/11, and making dark jokes until we cried. You're right; and healing is the perfect word for those moments and people if we're lucky to have them.
I don't have the proper words to express my gratitude for your post. I'm new to your corner of the Internet and this post speaks my thoughts so completely. Thank you. Here's to rest and showing up from a place of rest and clarity.
Another great post that is just what I needed. I feel it’s a responsibility to watch, to bear witness as you said. I was talking about this with some social studies teachers at a i service this week. We all were saying that we feel that responsibility (and we were discussing if that was bc we teach/love history.) But at times have needed to pause it lately.

Yes to all of this! Thank you for articulating so well what a lot of us feel.
Great read. Thank you.
I just did a mini-pod on this subject.
I will have to listen!
I hope you enjoy it!

Rachel...thank you so much for being here.
Thank you for putting it into words. I'm saving this for any future discussions that come up, because you articulated what I've been feeling so well.
We're all just trying to figure stuff out together. So happy it's helpful.
This post was just fucking fantastic. Thank you.
🙏❤️ Thank you Kim!
There is peace in the pause.
Brene Brown talks a lot about this ❤️
