This may be one of the best things you’ve ever written, Liz. I’d like to print it out, in a very large font, and plaster it on several walls of my (very, very red) office tomorrow so my (almost exclusively white men) coworkers can see the light.

As a white cis-gender male, I can say I fully support Kamala Harris. If you can put aside her gender and ethnic background, you can see she is easily qualified to be president--much more so than Trump. It is sad that this is even an issue.

I might suggest… perhaps it’s her gender and her background that inform her worldview and have made her the qualified person she is 💙

Liz, this is excellent, and I'm on board. However, I think white cis-het men should also be held to account for "needing" to see themselves in Harris. How incredibly selfish and privileged is that?? These men get to see themselves everywhere FFS. So in this single moment when it's about anyone else they pitch a fit? It's insensitive, and it's also about damn time. Step back from the limelight and start seeing the world around you, brothers.

I'm using this space today with the hope of changing a few hearts, minds, and votes. It's a big tent party, and I want more people to see themselves in it if they don't already.

White and black men are giving Trump support he needs to win

Not so sure about Latino men

Or native men

However they are quite concerned that a woman president will take their "God given power" away over their women .. well historically men have always had their way

Whether women liked it or not

Trump seems to really lose it when women in the media challenge him.

That is disturbing on so many levels.

While I think her 'ground game' and women's vote may give her more, I'll hold my wish and hope for a 'win by 6 or more' .... which won't make her Presidency 'anything' - that's dependent on what she does over the next 4 years (or 8); but MOST IMPORTANT will be the 'no Trump' .... If she does something iconic to distinguish herself in the history books, I hope it's not 'first woman president' ... because that's icing on a cake - important icing, of course, but distinguishing herself by being a unifying force for her country, for defending everyone's rights, and keeping democracy strong on this continent - from a neighbour to the north!, Cheers, Mark

She has never been a woman prosecutor/AG/VP. She’s just done her jobs exceedingly well, and that’s what she will continue to do.

YES ... and I guess the 'why' of the women's vote doesn't matter - whether it's to fix women's rights, defeat Trump or to say they voted for the first female candidate who won the presidency. As history proves - those who are revered and those who are dismissed - it's not about gender or party, it's about performance. Her track record is very good on many things, I agree. But it's a historic moment/opportunity to be seized or lost, and I believe she'll seize it successfully and the Donald will be fitted for a jump-suit, because I do not expect that Biden or Harris will pardon him, nor ever wish that they had.
