Another beautiful post written by a woman who never forgets the good, wonderful, and heartfelt times in her life. I know how proud of you your dad has always been. This is a topper.

Love this! Resonates big with me. I am one of the lucky ones with a full time Dad. My parents divorced when I was 15 and I also got a private landline to call him anytime.

I have been a fan of your dad for many years and this story just makes me pull even harder for him. How lucky you both are to have each other. May you have many more phone calls and celebrations.

Thank you Raquel. Yesterday, we talked about the number of Father's Days we have spent together (not too hard if you know my birth year) and he teared up. We realized I've had far more than he had with his own dad. It's a strange thing, when you realize you've lived longer than your own parents did -- or that you could even be older than them at all.

You’ve got a great dad, I hope you continue to enjoy many, many more happy and healthy years together. Cooks! New Rochellean here, haven’t thought of that place in decades. Thank you for the memories. ❤️

He's an original New Rochellean too! He split his time between there and the City growing up!

Lovely memories. Happy Father’s Day, Paul. Liz, your father once told me as I was looking out my windows in Yeadon, as a hopeful, romantic teenager, waiting for my boyfriend to drive by, “ a watched pot never boils”, and to this day if I use that expression, I think of him!

Knowing him, it was his way of saying "live your life. Don't wait for him to show up for it to start."(At least that's what he'd say to me.)

Girls with good relationships w/their dads bloom. I’m now almost as old as my dad was when he died and still smile EVERY TIME I think of him, which is every day. Such a gift.

Love that you had that. I think that girls with good relationships with some kind of father figure/adult man is really important. I'm just lucky it was my dad.

What a beautiful story. Your love for him shines through. The best dads are full time dads for the rest of their lives. You are both so blessed.

Change Man is a legend in our family! Our divorced Dad crashed for a while with another dad somewhere near Mamaroneck, so we had the reverse treat of doing suburban stuff on his weekends. Then he struck gold for teenage me and moved into 300 Mercer St.

I dunno, Liz. Walter’s has THE hot dogs in Mamaroneck.

Oh, that’s a whole other post! We are the Walter’s family. But, alas, they were not open at 7 PM on Wednesday nights when he would come in for dinner. That was a weekend treat for us.

And by the way, I literally just wrote a comment about Walter’s hotdogs on Instagram about a half hour ago. 🌭
